Before You Toss That Soap The surface of black soap (Bar or Paste) can develop a thin, white film if exposed to air. The film is not a sign of mold. To make it easy to use daily and prevent the white film from developing, you might cut off a piece of the bar or roll it into small balls and store it in a Ziploc bag. When buying soap in bulk or by the pound, cut off a piece of the soap and keep the rest in a cool, dry place. Place the soap in a plastic bag and wrap it in a Ziploc bag to keep it fresh.
